VACANCYMMILA FUND ADMINISTRATORS (Pty) LtdThe company is looking for a self-driven, results-oriented individual who will blend well with the team and offer Mmila superior service as a LEGAL & COMPLIANCE MANAGER.MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOBThe successful candidate will provide strategic oversight within the Legal and Regulatory Compliance function of Mmila. The position holder will provide sound legal advice to the business, institute good corporate governance and risk management practices as well as provide Board secretarial services to Mmila Board of Directors.KEY PERFORMANCE AREASOversee the provision of legal advice and supportMonitor compliance with legal requirements and good governance practicesLiaise with service providers, external legal advisors, regulatory authority, and governmentReview contracts between Mmila and external providers with support of the Mmila Executive CommitteeMaintain and manage the register for all Mmila contractsDevelop and revise policies and procedures relevant to the area of responsibilityAlign governance and compliance processes and practices to support Mmila and its strategic objectivesSecretarial functions for Board of Directors and Board CommitteesProvision of full secretarial services including setting of Agenda and preparing Board packsPreparation for Board meetings, minute taking and maintenance of the minute book and resolutionsImplementation of Board resolutions and monitors Board Action Items.Provide relevant expert advice to the Board of Directors and coordinate training where neededCoordinate the recruitment of and facilitates training for new Board membersStay abreast of all developments in the Pension regulatory environment and update Fund Rules accordinglyAlignment of Mmila risk management framework with regulatory risk-based compliance frameworkMonitors Mmila Risk Register with the support of Mmila Executive Management Committee.Ensures proper document management and relevant submissions of compliance returns to the regulatorRemains fully knowledgeable on regulatory compliance issues governing pension FundsPeople management & Self DevelopmentImplementation of policies and procedures to ensure an effective internal control environmentCOMPETENCIES REQUIRED
Ability to manage complex stakeholder relationshipsAbility to work calmly under pressure to meet tight deadlines, and within a small dynamic teamAttention to detail, especially when writing documentsIn-depth understanding and ability to interpret relevant Pension LegislationStrong teaming and collaboration attributesAttention to detail – take ownership of responsibilitiesStrong computer skills, including but not limited to MS Office Suite and Diligent BoardsPro-active problem solverStrong ethics and commitment to integrityTo be knowledgeable about the industry and staying abreast of latest developmentsMINIMUM QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTSBachelor of Laws with Chartered Institute of Secretary or MBA as an added advantageMinimum of 8 years’ related experience, 3 of which should have been served at amanagement level.Experience in the Financial Services and regulated environment will be an added advantageCorporate legal and compliance experience.Experience in a Company/ Board secretary role.Certificate of Proficiency in Retirement Funds/ Insurance or related also an added advantage.
